Perspectus Architecture converted an existing assisted living residential wing at Brookdale Senior Living’s Atrium Way Continuum of Care Retirement Community (CCRC) into a specialized Memory Care neighborhood for residents with mild to mid-stage cognitive impairment. This purpose-built, person-centered environment gives residents enhanced safety and quality of life.
The project consists of numerous upgrades and additions to residential life spaces and amenities as well as resident rooms with a modern and open design approach.
A renovated dining room changes the use and scale of the existing space, creating a person-centered environment at a residential scale. The addition of a country kitchen creates a home-like environment to support activities of daily living specific to memory care.
Resident living spaces were upgraded to include a bright living room with increased storage and gas fireplace, and a secured outdoor courtyard. Other amenities include a newly designed spa, solace room, and activities room. Upgrades to resident rooms include modern finishes and enhanced safety measures.
