As part of their Master Plan, Laurel Lake Retirement Community engaged Perspectus Architecture to design and implement a Center for Healthy Living concept for the 25-year-old CCRC. A four-phased transformation of the community’s Central Commons Building and Main Street seeks to engage residents in person-centered care programs and facilities supporting the “mind, body and spirit.”
In Phase 1 (2015), a new Bistro and Colony Shop set the stage by energizing and transforming the image of the community at the Main Entry. The Bistro establishes a casual dining venue and serves as a community socialization space adjacent to the living room and main dining room. The new Bistro’s form and materials create a new architectural language to tie the Center together.
Phase 2 (2016) further transformed the community’s Main Street with a new Reception Desk, Art Gallery, Art Studio, Mission Offices, and an expanded Physical Therapy Department.
Phase 3 (2017) established a new Aquatic Center and Spa. The Aquatic Center, with its heavy Timber structure, connects to the community-landscaped courtyard with large windows and a covered outdoor porch.
The Fitness Center, Aerobics Room, Massage and Beauty Salon join the Aquatic Center in creating a comprehensive Wellness Spa.
The conversion continues with an expanded Theater/ Multi-Purpose Room, Meeting rooms, Classrooms, Meditation Room and a Dining Display Kitchen.
