University Hospital’s 50,300 square-foot Health Center in North Ridgeville, Ohio is strategically situated on a 33-acre site near Interstates 480 and 80. The building’s accessible location and visibility of signage, a critical design element of the project, creates clear wayfinding to the Emergency Department for patients and visitors.
The LEED-certified, Health Center features a light-filled, two-story main lobby and outpatient services which include: Emergency Department, Radiology Department, Laboratory, Retail Pharmacy, Digestive Health Department and Medical Offices including Primary Care, Specialty Care, OB/GYN and Pediatrics.
The design team focused on defining and maintaining consistency with University Hospitals’ brand for community hospitals and health centers. In doing so, existing facilities were field documented to understand consistencies that reinforce an underlying architectural brand.
Design elements that emerged include signage, brick color, glass color, metal panels, curvature and geometric features.
