Perspectus Architecture was selected by Laurel Lake Retirement Community in Hudson, Ohio, to design its new Bistro, Pub & Colony Shop.
Perspectus principal Jim Wallis, AIA, NCARB previewed the latest conceptual drawings for the new space during a coffee for Laurel Lake residents. Plans were also shared with residents in Laurel Lake’s weekly newspaper, “The Friday Flash” (pictured right).
The Bistro’s New England-style exterior will incorporate the same stone-and-shake architectural elements used elsewhere in Laurel Lake’s campus, creating a “lighthouse” feel. Coming into Laurel Lake’s main entrance, residents and their guests will be welcomed by a spacious new Lounge featuring a central fireplace and an alcove to showcase the Steinway grand piano.
The new octagon-shaped Bistro & Pub will feature dramatic high ceilings with exposed wood beams topped by a cupola, and wrap-around windows allowing plenty of natural light.
The Bistro seating will accommodate 60 people with ample room for larger gatherings to “spill over” into the new Lounge area. The attractive bar will offer both comfortable low seating and standing room. A self-service Coffee Station will be accessible to residents 24 hours a day. The new Colony Shop will have an attractive, open design with ample shelf and refrigerated space to carry grocery items, gifts, cards, and Laurel Lake apparel.
