The United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) office resides in the Anthony J. Celebrezze Federal Building located on East 9th Street in downtown Cleveland. USCIS occupies 17,810-square-feet in the 32-story high-rise.

Originally, the USCIS District and Field Offices, Application Support Center and bulk storage room were split between multiple floors. As part of the renovation, these functions were centralized on the 5th floor, adjoining their existing office spaces.

Our project team had the opportunity to create a custom piece of art for the waiting room. A massive laminated glass panel was designed with the Statue of Liberty carved into the back side of the glass, and the Cleveland skyline etched onto the front. The artwork, titled “Liberty in Cleveland,” symbolizes Lady Liberty overseeing the immigration process, welcoming those on the path toward citizenship to Cleveland, Ohio.
